iRead Book Tour Blog Tour: THE WEB OF TIME by Flavia Brunetti

Book Details:

Book Title:  THE WEB OF TIME by Flavia Brunetti
Category:  YA Fiction (Ages 13-17),  298 pages
GenreGrounded Fantasy
PublisherBlue House Literary
Release date:  May 2025
Content RatingG + M: While this is fully G, it does touch on matters including physical abuse and trauma. This is done in a very gentle way, but perhaps worth noting.

Far beneath the ground, a web quietly spins. The threads are keeping time, marking history. What’s done is done. Until now.

Protected by the gods and powering the three Great Portals of Art, Language, and Kindness, The Web of Time rearranges itself as humans change their minds, fall in love, or cause empires to rise and fall. When the Great Portals close from the world, time begins erasing itself, histories start to disappear, Earth falls into chaos, and the gods don’t know how to stop it—until Jack meets Anna.

Anna is a passionate and solitary writer who is protected by her companion, Nafusa of Libya, the cat god. When Jack, a young painter harboring a traumatic past, falls through the Great Portal of Art in Tunis, he stumbles into Anna, and his fate.

Helped and hindered by a rotating cast of deities, the two embark on a journey that connects three ancient cities in different times: Rome, Tunis, and Tripoli. They realize that it is Anna’s gift for healing words and Jack’s natural talent for drawing places as they were that can reinstate the Great Portals and restore the world’s balance, but some of the darker gods who thrive on chaos will stop at nothing to derail their quest. As time tears faster than they can heal it, Anna and Jack must come together in time to save history, and the possibility of a future.

Young Adult Fantasy is a genre that I have recently been really enjoying. The Web of Time by Flavia Brunetti is the most recent book in this genre that I have read.

I will admit that this book took me a couple of chapters to really get into the storyline of this book. The main characters in this book are Anna and Jack. Anna is a writer and Jack is an artist/painter. They bump into each other in the Magical Portal and a friendship begins. The storyline is about their journey to 3 different ancient cities: Rome, Tunis, and Tripoli and in different times of History. They set out to these Ancient Cities in Historical time to restore the things that they feel weren't accurate. The God's were not happy with Anna and Jack's presence and tried to do everything they could to make Anna and Jack did not succeed at their quest. I thought I wasn't going to be able to get through the book as it started out slow, but I am so glad I continued reading as the book was very mysterious and intriguing. I HIGHLY recommend this book to Young Adults who enjoy Mythology and History. GREAT BOOK!

Born just outside of Rome, Flavia grew up bouncing back and forth between Italy and California and has lived between a myriad other countries, so her writing often revolves around place and identity and is usually written on a plane where she inevitably apologizes to the person sitting next to her for bumping their elbow. She is the author of the novel All the Way to Italy. Her second novel, The Web of Time, a YA grounded fantasy adventure set in Rome, Tunis, and Tripoli, will be published by Blue House Literary in May 2025.

Today, Flavia continues learning about the world while working for a humanitarian organization and getting lost in her Eternal City, writing flash fiction and non-fiction stories, and connecting with other readers, writers, and adventurers (also the armchair travel variety).

Christian Historical Romance is always a favorite genre. Seven Brides for Seven Texans by Gabrielle Meyer, Erica Vetsch, Amanda Barratt, Lorna Steilstad, Keli Gwyn, and Vickie McDonough is the latest book in this genre that I have read. It is a Novella of stories written by the various authors.

I jumped right into the book and I found the storyline very interesting. The setting is 1874 in Texas. Seven Brothers have been challenged by their Tycoon Grandfather, Abraham Kennebrae, to find themselves a Bride within a year. The Brothers weren't too keen on their Grandfather's challenge at first, although they all took the challenge on. I really LOVED how each of them had a different plan and different manner of fulfilling the dreams and goals their Grandfather had challenged them to achieve. The potential Brides were also very unique and had their own personalities. The storyline was definetly a Texas story and I LOVED how each Brother has names that relate to well known Historical Texans. The book is one that focuses on Faith, History, Family and Trust. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Chrsitian Historical Fiction! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Gabrielle Meyer, a Minnesota native, draws inspiration for her historical fiction from the rich stories and landscapes of her home state, where she lives on the banks of the upper Mississippi River with her husband and four children. A former employee of the Minnesota Historical Society, Gabrielle loves weaving real people, places, and events into her captivating tales.

Best-selling, award-winning author Erica Vetsch weaves her love for Jesus, history, romance, and sports into her stories, including The Debutante’s Code, the first in the Thorndike & Swann Regency Mystery Series. When she’s not crafting fiction or planning her next trip to a history museum.

Bestselling author Amanda Barratt brings to life overlooked moments in history through her award-winning novels, including The Warsaw SistersWithin These Walls of Sorrow, and The White Rose Resists. Based in Michigan, she’s often immersed in research, tackling her ever-growing TBR stack, or savoring a slice of lemon cake.

Carol Award finalist Lorna Seilstad explores life’s complexities with humor in her nine novels, including the Lake Manawa Summers and Gregory Sisters series, as well as several novella collections. When she’s not writing, she teaches women’s Bible classes, runs a toy store, plans weddings, or spends time with her Pyredoodle, Honey Bea.

Keli Gwyn crafts inspirational historical romances that she loves to read. A California native, she now lives in the greater Sacramento area with her husband and their sweet orange tabby, enjoying life close to family.

Vickie McDonough, a CBA, EPCA, and Amazon best-selling author of 54 books and novellas, brings the Old West to life in her award-winning romances featuring ranchers, cowboys, and lawmen. Though married to a computer geek who fears horses, she lives out her ranching dreams through her stories—and when she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, gardening, making cards, and traveling.

More from Erica

Hi, I’m Erica Vetsch, and I loved collaborating on the stories for the 7 Brides for 7 Texans collection. It was fun writing stories that were so intertwined, and working closely with the other authors in the collection to bring the whole concept together.

Initially, I was approached by a publisher, asking if I would be interested in heading up a novella collection loosely based on the idea of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, the classic musical. The parameters were that the stories must be no longer than 25K words, be historical in setting, and that I could choose the overall concept, as well as my team of authors.

I, of course, jumped at the chance. Before I contacted anyone, I worked up a rough idea of the premise of the stories. A wealthy Texas rancher with seven strapping sons is tired of waiting for them to get married and provide him with grandchildren, so he issues an ultimatum. Get married by the end of the calendar year, or you’re disinherited.

I named all the sons after famous Texans, and gave them a birth order, then I began contacting writing friends to see if they were interested in joining the project. Everyone I asked said yes! 😊

Then the real fun began. We formed a private Facebook group, and as the characters were chosen by the various authors, the order of the stories in the collection formed, and as ideas for storylines poured in, I began creating what we came to call The Master Document.

In the MD we tracked main characters’ names and appearances, secondary characters, a map of the fictional town of Hartsville, TX, and more. It eventually ran to more than 20 pages of information. We named the town newspaper, the general store, and kept track of the layout of the Harts’ massive ranch house. Keeping these details all in one place made it easy for the authors to flesh out their story world in a way that was consistent with everyone else’s stories.

Because the stories are so closely tied and on such a tight timeline, each of the authors’ characters would appear in another author’s novella. We needed to respect each other’s visions for the characters and treat them with respect, while also having the freedom to write our own stories.

Early on, as the project coordinator, it was established that if a dispute arose between two authors on how something should go, it would be myself who would cast the final vote. However, that contingency never came into play, as all the authors worked so well together.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was, that as the project lead, and the one writing the final story in the collection, I needed to know the most about all the stories. Just before the deadline to turn our stories into the publisher, each author sent their story along to me to read for continuity. I spent a long weekend at author Gabrielle Meyer’s house, and we read every novella aloud, making notes for consistency and continuity throughout. These notes were turned in to the project editor, and she used them in her editing process to make sure seven separate stories felt cohesive.

It truly was a fun—and to me—unique, project, and when the publisher asked if I would like to head up a follow up collection, I was eager to say yes, and thus 7 Brides for 7 Texas Rangers was born.

Both of these intertwined collections went out of print, but they are now being released once more, this time through Wild Heart Books. I’m thrilled that we can tell our stories to new readers and prolong the lives of these characters.

A Summer to Treasure

Title: A Summer to Treasure
Author:
Leslea Wahl
Publisher:
Perpetual Light Publishing
Release Date:
May 27, 2025
Genre:
MG/YA Adventure Mystery

Teenage siblings Luke, Celia, and Austin are dreading their summer vacation. A month cooped up in an RV, touring around the Southwest, with their parents, grandmother, and each other? Pure torture.

But when Grandma reveals the real reason for the trip, the journey becomes an unexpected adventure. As they travel through breathtaking canyons, the teens develop new friendships, deepen their faith, and join together to solve a decades-old mystery.

And if the siblings can put down their phones long enough to enjoy the incredible journey, they might just discover that their relationships with each other are truly the greatest treasure.

Young Adult books are a genre that I have recently been interested in. A Summer to Treasure by Leslea Wahl is the most recent book in this genre that I have recently read.

I read this book in one sitting, as the storyline was so amazing from the first few pages. The main characters in the book are siblings Luke, Celia, and Austin and they are at the significant Teenager years. Summer Vacation can be a challenging time for Teenagers and many sink into Boredom. I really LOVE that Grandma and Mom plan a RV Road trip for Summer Vacation. Teenagers many times are not wanting to travel, they would rather sleep in and relax. Grandma has a motive for the Road Trip and I really enjoyed how she revealed things slowly as they traveled for a month.  The book teaches some valuable lessons for Young Adults in today's times. I feel family time in the growing years is so important and Luke, Celia, and Austin certainly found that out in this book. I highly recommend this book for Young Adults. AWESOME BOOK!

Christian Historical Fiction is a favorite genre of mine. Desire of my Heart by Heidi Gray McGill is Book 1 in the Discerning God's Best. I have read a couple of the book in this series and now have returned to read Book 1. Out of order, but they are good standalone books.

I am so glad I finally read this book, as it has a great storyline. The setting is 1858 in Missouri. The 2 main characters are Rachel and Melvin. Rachel is contemplating life after aging out of the Orphanage. She has plans for her life, but isn't sure they will happen as she desires. She is courageous and takes her 5 year old brother and flees the Orphanage. Melvin, a widower with 2 young girls, could be her "dream come true". Melvin and Rachel decide that a "Marriage of Convenience"  could be an answer for both of their lives. The now combined family is living a sweet life and putting faith at the center of the family. I was really overjoyed that the storyline was leading to a "happily ever after", but then tragedy strikes. I loved seeing how Rachel and Melvin were surrounded with LOVE and Help from the Community and Neighbors in the midst of tragedy. I enjoyed that the storyline wasn't straight forward and predictable. There were many twists and turns in the storyline that kept me captivated and intrigued. Marriage of Convenience stories are one of my favorite and this one took it a step above. The book is filled with Scripture throughout. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction! AMAZING BOOK!
