WOW! This series just keeps getting better. This is book 2 in the Operation Mayhem series and it features Whitney Averton and Christopher "Hicks" Higginbatham. The prologue of this story starts when Hicks was a child and it ripped my heart open. What a terrible thing for anybody to go through. Present day, Hicks goes to help Dr. Melissa Averton's sister and...BOOM! Whitney's a mess but they can't keep their hands off each other. Hicks unfairly passes judgment on her without listening to any explanation, for which he later regrets. I can't seem to figure her out. One minute she's tough and the next she's the damsel in distress. Great story regardless.

This is an amazing action-packed, smokin' hot romance with very large, very sexy, ex-military men full of muscles AND brains. I love that the whole team is involved in the story line. I can't wait for the next one!

I purchased the 3 book box set for this series and decided to review the individual books as well.
Thrilling, heart stopping storyline. The storyline is exciting and the characters are well developed. I couldn’t put the book down. Melissa’s sister Whitney is in danger and it is up to Hicks to find out who and why. When they first meet, Hicks makes an assumption that hurts Whitney. Will Whitney forgive Hicks and can he protect her from the team sent to kill her? I enjoyed this story.

Whitney has a job with a non-profit aid company, but also moonlights for a Senator as a dominatrix who plans to use the money for underprivileged children. Whitney wants to start her own company to help those in need. But when her car is stolen and her apartment destroyed, she goes to her sister, Dr Averton who works for Project Mayhem. They alter DNA of subjects to enhance strength. Hicks is one such subject.
He hears about Whitney, he goes to rescue her. The attraction is immediate and electric, but a rough start might just keep them apart...Still he's determined to help Whitney, stop the attacks on her, and keep her safe which just might put him and his team in the cross hairs!
Tons of action, twists, turns, surprises and yes... deliciously decadent and erotic romance.

Great addition to the Mayhem series! This is the story of Hicks and Whitney - Hicks is in hiding with his team while Dr Averton works on the serum to stabilise their DNA. One night she receives a call from her sister, Whitney that her car has been stolen and her penthouse apartment has been broken into! Hicks volunteers to go help her sister as a way to repay her for all the work she is doing to help them, but doesn't expect the burst of emotions she brings out in him.

Wonderful read, can't wait for more in the Mayhem series:)

firstly my thanks to the author for an early release copy in return for an honest review.
once again, a brilliant read - excellent writing and a great plot that grabs from the very start and is difficult to put down. Whitney & Hicks are a strong couple that are just perfect for each other - that is once they get over first impressions. These books are very fast paced with plenty of action and still plenty of emotion. Love the writing style and the overall story arc that ties the books together. Yes, it is part of a series and earlier books shed light on different aspects but i think it can hold it together as a a stand alone easily enough

This one focuses on Hicks who is also part of the Operation Mayhem team.

Whitney was very smart, I felt so bad for her when she found out somebody was trying to ruin her life, well more so get her killed. She was trying to make the world better and then that happens getting in the middle of it. She was smart, sassy and I loved her.

Hicks was strong headed and was very strong-willed. I loved Hicks the way he felt so protective Whitney and yet at times really disliked her. Whitney and Hicks were definitely an interesting couple, you could tell their attraction the moment they met. I loved how they both fought the attraction between each other.

The tension in the overarching plot that goes through this series, with every book the tension is growing and it’s getting hella tense.

I think my thing was as much as I loved Hicks and Whitney I needed more of them, actually I think that’s the case with all of Lindsay’s characters I tend to want more like they could be doing anything and I could be happy.

It was interesting learning a little bit more about doctor Melissa too and her sister. I loved seeing the other characters and it was nice to see them bonding as a group. And being normal especially as they are slowly re-entering the normal world.

I loved this, the story characters. Everything about it.

Mayhems Desire will quickly draw you in and you will not be able to put it down. This is the second book in the series and can be totally read as a standalone. As always Cross starts off with a bang and the suspense and plot twists will keep you quessing. This book is full of political intrigue, stalkers, and the best evil villain ever. Character development and story line are spot on as always. Lindsay Cross makes you fall in love with her characters over and over again. With Hicks you have a man tortured by his past and afraid of the beast he had turned into but a kind heart and the fear of hurting someone makes him someone you will love. He is a true alpha with an overwhelming need to protect those he loves or cared about. Whitney was a little harder for me to understand but as the story progresses she quickly turns into the right woman for Hicks as she also has the need to be loved and protect those she loves. Cross has written a story that tears at your heart strings and you can't believe it is over. The twists and turns in this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. She continues to astound and amaze me with her ability to tell such well rounded stories

The newest installment is Christopher “Hicks” Higgenbotham and a new character, Whitney’s story. When we meet Whitney she is clearly in in the middle of a Dominatrix BDMS role with a married sitting Senator. I took a closer look at my e-reader to see how this BDMS book got on my Kindle. It was the right book. So, I sat down again and enjoyed the plot.

Hicks thinks life is black & white, but as he finds out, life is really shades of gray. Who could blame him though. He and his team have been experimented on and they are now damaged with some super capabilities. When Whitney’s life is threatened, Hicks will protect her, but that is it!! The problem is that he is so attracted to her he can hardly keep his hands off her.

As Hicks and Whitney’s life intertwin, can Hicks and his team save her, or will he lose her before he can tell her how he feels.
